Fourteen Scouts embarked on an expedition as part of their Gold Chief Scout Award Challenge.
They set off from Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, at 9:30 am, on a very warm and sunny morning and worked their way towards Ashworth Valley Scout Campsite.
Despite making a slight navigation mistake at the beginning the Scouts managed to get back on track to meet some Leaders at the first checkpoint. From there the Scouts continued to make their way to the next checkpoint. The Scouts stopped for a welcome break and lunch at that checkpoint then carried on to camp.
Arriving at camp the Scouts started to erect their tents for the night then proceeded to make their dinner. A nice warm dinner inside them helped them to get settled down for the night. They must have been tired as they were all in bed and sleeping by 11pm.
After a wet night the Scouts were woken up at 7am, to start getting breakfast then pulling down their tents before packing up their kit ready to set off to Nuttall park.
They set off shortly after 9:30am on their route to the first checkpoint. Here they stopped for lunch before walking down to Summerseat railway station. The Scouts then jumped onto the Irwell Sculpture Trail to hike into Nuttall park for around 2pm.
In all the Scouts walked almost 20 kms (12.5-miles) and worked together as a team to achieve their aim.
Well done to them all for completing this achievement.
