This years Cancer Research Relay for Life took place on 6-7th July and the 38th Rossendale Scouts put in a team to raise funds for Cancer research. The team was open to Leaders, Explorers / Young Leaders and Scouts and 34 signed up. From 12 noon Saturday to 12 noon Sunday, we kept team members on the track, running and walking with a continuance presence.
Some came for their allotted time while a core team spent the whole weekend trackside, joining in with the trackside shenanigans provided by Rossendale Radio, Relay supporters and our own Leaders.
Despite rain, wind and some seriously chilly weather, spirits remained high, even on Sunday when the core team were suffering from sleep depravation a little.
We raised £920.00 (as of the time of writing this post) for Cancer Research and are grateful to the team members for joining us, our supporters for helping set and take down our base camp and to everyone who sponsored the team.
