A weekend of adventure was in store for Grey and Purple Colony Beavers and Purple Pack Cubs who visited the Guides Guys Farm Activity Centre near Lancaster.
This was a last-minute change of venue as the planned campsite was closed for maintenance.
Grey Colony Beavers and the Purple Pack Cubs arrived on the Friday evening and having settled into their accommodation everyone explored the campsite, the Beavers undertaking a torch light “bird trail” the Cubs a “wide game”.
A supper of crumpets was served before everyone settled down for the night.
First thing on Saturday morning the Purple Colony Beavers arrived on-site.
Throughout the day the Beavers activities included Soft Archery and Soft Tomahawk, Crazy Golf and Craft activities.
The Cubs tried their hand at Abseiling, Peddle Carting, Den Building and Crazy Golf.
The site featured a giant-sized Pizza oven, and this was the plan for teatime. Each young person to choose their toppings and the Pizza was to be cooked in the oven. Despite four hours stoking the fire the cooking of the Pizza was slow so only the Beavers had the flame-grilled treat, the Cubs had theirs cooked in the conventional oven.
A campfire was to follow on the Saturday evening before the Grey Colony Beavers left site and the rest settled down to watch a film.
More exploration of the site was instore on the Sunday morning before the packing-up was completed and everyone left site at lunchtime.
Everyone had an enjoyable weekend and thanks to the Leaders involved for their time in planning and implementing the camp.
