The first weekend in October was Akela’s very first Cub camp which was perfect timing for a wet weekend at the Bowley International Scout Campsite.
The Cubs arrived Friday night armed with pillows, sleeping bags and a lot of cake!
Some of the parents helped to get the tents erected before it got too dark.
The Cubs then played a few games and had hot chocolate and cake before climbing into their soggy tents.
When they woke up on Saturday the weather was slightly calmer. They had sausage and bacon sandwiches to start the day off before they headed off to grass sledging and crate stacking for the morning.
The Cubs did really well at them both and had lots of fun!
Then it was back to the camp for a picnic lunch and some down time to test out their paper aeroplanes and rocket launcher.
In the afternoon the groups swapped so by the end of the day both groups had a chance to try out grass sledging and crate stacking.
Then it was time for a barbeque for tea following by a dark disco and some light entertainment from the Young Leaders. Well-done girls Simon Cowell would be proud of you!
Then the heavens opened so everyone made a run for their very wet tents. Everyone somehow managed to survive the night without any of the Cubs floating away.
In the morning they had sausage and bacon to warm up with a hot Vimto.
The Cubs then went off to enjoy the Splatterpults and the wolf trail until lunch time.
Following a quick lunch, it was time to pack away in a torrential downpour whilst waiting for parents to collect the very wet Cubs.
It was a wet but fun weekend, and it is hoped all the Cubs have some fabulous memories.
Despite all this the feedback has been positive, one Cub revealing it was the “best camp ever”.
Akela is really happy, but is perhaps thinking about an indoor location next year!
