We are pleased to announce that Charlie has been awarded the Jean Smith Award as our outstanding Scouter of the Year.
Bev Smith, the daughter who reviewed all seven nominations for the Award commented that she had chosen Charlie because “Scouting is about building confidence and resilience and Charlie is a fine example of that”.
A fine turnout of parents and young people were there to witness the announcement of the Award which followed on from the appointment of the Group Executive Committee for the 2022-23 year.
Our Grey Colony Beaver of the Year was Harper, the Purple Colony Beaver of the Year was Archie, the Purple Pack Cub of the Year was Noah, and the Grey Pack Cub of the Year was Charlie.
The Scout Awards went to Harry from Purple Troop, Adam from Grey Troop, and Thomas from Red Troop.
All seven award recipients were nominated for the Jean Smith Award.
A very special Award went to Leader Katie Hoyle.
The Queen’s Scout Award is the highest Award that can be achieved by a Young Person up to the age of 25.
Many congratulations to her.
Ten Beavers received their Chief Scout Bronze Award, six Cubs received their Chief Scout Silver Award and seven Scouts their Chief Scout Gold Award.
Bev Ashworth received her 10-years’ service award whilst Di West, Elliott Collier, Josh Bend, Lisa Fletcher, Nathan Ashworth and Tim Feather received their 5-years’ service award.
Richard Guest received his Wood Badge for completing his training as an Assistant Scout Leader.
